Happy Birthday Kim!!!!

Thu, 08/02/2007 - 16:39 -- irma

On Tuesday, January 6 2007, it was Kims' birthday (Or as she likes to say: We celebrated a quarter century of Kim)

Since she had her photography thing on Tuesdays we had to have post-birthday cocktails on Wednesday.

We went to Mama Thembas in Greenside and had our long awaited 'Girls night', Kim, Leanne, Ilze and myself. (we get to hang out with Ilze when Anton is out of town and we always have a ton of fun).

Leanne asked our waiterboy to service us, but instead he brought us drinks. (which is ok, I guess).

Eventually Kim got free drinks from everybody.... and well... all I'm saying is thatv at least it was not like when Britney vomited a powerful tidalwave of hot chunky grey puke into Isaac Cohen's hands in front of about a billion photographers a few weeks ago... (mainly because Isaac Cohen wasn't there neither were there photographers - and it was pink, not grey), but here are the pics of the rest of the evening:

On Friday my friend Heini (aka. Vis, Fish, Nemo...) and I decided to be 19 again and we went to the 'Jool' at UJ (University of Johannesburg).. it is an annual party at the beginning of the year and WONDERBOOM, Parlotones, Karma, Love Jones and Revolver played.. It was really cool. Heini and I found a bunch of his old varsity buddies, all really cool people... I'm definitely gonna go with them to Oppikoppie this year! I went home just after 3am and woke up feeling very weak on Saturday. Then Lankie, Kim and I went for brunch... then shopping then ended up having cocktails again. I was home at 10pm already (i thought that I would feel better as the day goes by but by 10pm I was a fragile as could be... so Stan and I just watched a DVD at my place for the rest of the night.
So.... this weekend was great but Sunday club kinda got neglected this week, the reasons for that...
* I slept all day
* Willem went to Harrysmith for the weekend.
* Jorik had a gig in Pretoria
* Stanley is a workaholic and how will SA survive without a new meerkat?

PS. Happy Birthday Sindie!!!!

Sunday, January 28 2007. China Town, Johannesburg

Mon, 29/01/2007 - 15:45 -- irma

We decided that from now on we are going to do something exciting every Sunday.... So no more lying on the couch watching re-runs of Saturday Night Live and Dawsons' Creek..... Last week we went to the Buddhist temple in Bronkhorstspruit, we decided to take it one step further and so this week we went to China Town near Bruma Lake. Jorik, Sindie and Quelene also joined our Sunday club, so now we are 6.

It was like being in Shanghai again. China Town...featuring heavily in everything from milktea in a box to succulent marinated duck heads hanging in restaurant windows.

We did lots of grocery shopping and afterwards we went to have lunch at a restaurant in Derrick Ave (the main street where the Chinese community blossoms and almost no one speaks English). They gave us our own private room... what else do you think we found in there but the very thing that Asia is most famous for..... A KAREOKE MACHINE!!! Yes... while eating our delicious chinese dishes we could sing hits like 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Respect' and 'Blaze of Glory'. Our 'Sunday-Club' was apparently giving Kareoke music a bad name, and from what I’ve seen and heard, I might even agree with that statement... but I choose not to.
